REASONS The Soil Bar's CHUNKY MIX MAKES SUCH A  DIFFERENCE  
Improved drainage: Our mix consists of high quality ingredients like coco coir, pumice and diatomite.   This allows water to drain quickly and easily, preventing the roots from sitting in water, which can lead to root rot. Other brands that claim to be "premium" or "custom" are made up of  peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite, which are all highly porous BUT they break down quickly, hold too much water, hold not enough water and turn into a thick mushy slurry (I call it muddy dirt) it's not soil.
 
Better aeration: The Soil Bar mix  also contains air pockets that are varied in size, which are essential for root health. Roots need oxygen to breathe,and high-quality potting mix provides the perfect environment for this.
 
More nutrients: High-quality mix is fortified with nutrients, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium,which are essential for plant growth. This means that you won't need to fertilize plants yourself as long as you choose a mix from The Soil Bar that the plant falls under (Succulent mix, aroid mix, orchid mix, palm mix are the 4 primary mixes we offer.  And when in doubt grab a bag of The Soil Bar's Premium "All the Plants" Potting Mix!  You can't go wrong with that!  And you can amend it with the recommended other ingredients based on what plant you're potting)
 
No compaction: Over time, potting mix can become compacted, making it difficult for water and air to reach the roots.  Perlite is the solution other brands use to alleviate that problem. But it's a band aid because it quickly floats to the top of the pot.  We use Pumice and a  high-quality potting mix is less likely to compact, and it will stay fluffy and aerated for longer.
 
Faster growth: Plants in chunky mix have access to more nutrients and oxygen, which can lead to faster growth and development.
 
Stronger resistance to pests and diseases: Plants in high-quality chunky mix are more resilient and better able to resist pests and diseases.
